Q:        WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

A:        Boys and Girls in the U7 & U8 age groups. U6 players must have the approval from the Program Director to register. 

Q:        WHAT ARE THE DATES?
A:
        From the first Wednesday after Labor Day to the middle of October.  

Q:        WHAT IS THE COST?

A:        $149, with a $25 late registration fee, if registered after August 15th.  The uniform is an additional cost (approx. $50)

Q:        WHAT EVENTS ARE INCLUDED?
A:
        11 "Skills" sessions, 5 games and a Jamboree (3 Mini-Games). 

Q:        HOW DO WE REGISTER?

A:        Register online at the PSA website (www.plymouthsoccer.com).  There is a “CLICK TO REGISTER” link under the Young Champions Fall Program, in the Recreation section on the PSA website “Home Page”.  

Q:        WHAT ARE THE REGISTRATION DATES?

A:        Standard Registrations:   July 1st-August 15th. 

Late Registrations:         August 16th-August 31st. PLACEMENT ON A TEAM IS NOT GUARANTEED.

Registrations CLOSED:    August 31st 

Q:        WHAT AGE CHILDREN CAN PLAY IN THE PROGRAM?
A:       
The child must be in the U7 or U8 age group, according to MYSA birth year cutoff dates:

§  U7:       August 1, 2005 – July 31, 2006

§  U8:       August 1, 2004 – July 31, 2005

§  U6:       August 1, 2006 – July 31, 2007 (This age group must have approval from the Program Director to register

Q:        WHEN ARE THE "SKILLS" SESSIONS AND GAMES?

A:        "Skills":     Monday and Wednesday evening (Boys @ 6:00PM on Monday & 7:15pm on Wednesday, Girls @ 7:15pm on Monday and 6:00pm on Wednesday))

            Games:     Saturday afternoon (2:00pm-6:00pm) or Sunday afternoon (1:00pm-5:00pm).

Q:        WHERE ARE THE "SKILLS" SESSIONS AND GAMES CONDUCTED?

A:        At fields throughout the City of Plymouth and surrounding communities.  Look at the “Fields Map” on the PSA website (www.plymouthsoccer.com), under the “Young Champions” tab. 

 

Q:        WHEN WILL THE"SKILLS' SESSIONS & GAMES START?
A:
        Practices:           Wednesday September 5th

Games:              Saturday September 8th  

Q:        WHAT AGE GROUP SHOULD I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR?
A:       
PSA will assign players to the appropriate age group team based on their birth date, as above. 

Q:        CAN MY CHILD PLAY FOR A TEAM IN AN OLDER AGE GROUP?

A:        Individual requests will be considered.  Please contact the Program Director and he will make the final decision after discussing the player’s experience with you. 

Q:        HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED?

A:      By gender & age group.  “Play-with” requests and school attended will be considered.   Age groups may be combined if there are not enough players to form 4 teams within an age group. 

Q:        MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO PLAY WITH A FRIEND, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

A:        Yes.  One “play-with” request is allowed at online registration only.  Both children must request to “play-with” each other, otherwise the request will not be granted.

            REGISTRATIONS WITH A “PLAY-WITH” REQUEST MUST BE REGISTERED BY AUGUST 15th-NO EXCEPTIONS.

          If the “play-with” request involves players in different age groups, the player in the younger age group MUST play in the older age group, if approved. 

Q:       HOW DO I GET A UNIFORM?
A:       
Uniforms must be ordered and paid for at the PSA Office.
           Uniforms will be delivered to the PSA Office.  Parents will be notified when they can be picked up.   

Q:        ARE THERE ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR THE UNIFORMS?
A:       
Yes, you are required to pay for the uniform when it is ordered at the PSA Office. (approx. $50).

Q:        WHAT SOCCER EQUIPMENT DO WE NEED?

A:        Soccer shoes (NO TOE CLEATS) are required.  

It is mandatory that all players wear shin guards, completely covered by their socks.

Each player also needs to bring their own properly inflated soccer ball to all games and practices. 

They must also have enough water/sport drink to drink at all games and practices.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: 
                                  ·        A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to themselves or another player.  
                                 
·         If a child wears glasses, they should be secured with a head-band.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT PLAYERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR ANY JEWELRY/EARRINGS DURING THE SOCCER GAMES.

·         If a player has earrings, including newly-pierced earrings, they must remove them in order to play in the game.  Band-Aids or tape over the earrings is not allowed.

·         This is a major liability issue and there are NO EXCEPTIONS.  

Q:        I’D LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO COACH, HOW DO I PROCEED?

A:        Thank you. The PSA Young Champions Program uses volunteer coaches.   Please make your intentions known on the online registration form, contact the PSA Office (763-450-3099) or the Program Director. 

Q:        IS THERE AN INCENTIVE FOR COACHING A TEAM?
A:       
Yes, PSA will provide an incentive equivalent to 50% of one standard registration fee. 

Q:        MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO PLAY FOR A SPECIFIC COACH, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

A:        Unfortunately, we cannot allow individual Coach “Play-with” requests. However, Coaches can submit a full team roster to the Program Director.

Q:        DOES PSA HONOR REQUESTS FOR A CHILD TO PLAY AT A SPECIFIC FIELD?

A:        We are not able to accommodate this request due to the limited number of soccer fields available. 

Q:        IS THERE A "SKILLS"/GAME SCHEDULE FOR THE TEAMS?

A:        Yes.  The PSA Office will email the schedule to each team member; once the team rosters are finalized.  The coach will also have a master schedule of games and "skills" sessions. 

Q:        CAN I DROP MY CHILD OFF AT THE FIELD AND GO DO OTHER THINGS DURING THE "SKILLS"/GAME?

A:        We strongly recommend that a parent/guardian be present with their child during the time they’re at the soccer field, in case there are any problems/emergencies with the child during the event. 

Q:        WHAT SIZE SOCCER BALL SHOULD MY CHILD HAVE?
A:       
U7 & U8 use a size 3 ball. 

Q:        WHAT IS THE PSA POLICY ON REGISTRATION REFUNDS?

A:        Requests for refunds must be received, in writing, at the PSA Office by August 31st.  PSA will not consider refunds requested after August 31st, unless we are unable to place your child on a team. 

Refunds, generally, will be in the form of a credit for future PSA programs and will be minus $25 for administrative fees.

Note: For withdrawals/refunds as a result of health conditions or relocations, please contact the PSA Office.
