Q:
        WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

A:        Boys and Girls in the U7 & U8 age group ONLY, according to the birth dates below:

§  U7:       Birth dates from August 1, 2005 – July 31, 2006

§  U8:       Birth dates from August 1, 2004 – July 31, 2005 

Q:        WHAT EVENTS ARE INCLUDED?
A:
        8-10 practice sessions, 10-12 games, (3) “skills” sessions and a Jamboree (3 Mini-Games)

Q:        WHAT ARE THE DATES?
A:
        From approx. the middle of May to the end of July.  

Q:        WHEN ARE THE PRACTICES AND GAMES?

A:        Boys:    Monday and Wednesday evening.

Girls:    Tuesday and Thursday evening. 

Q:        WHAT IS THE COST?

A:        $224. $25 discount, if registered by March 15th.  The uniform is an additional cost ($50)

Q:        HOW DO WE REGISTER?

A:        Register at the PSA Online Registration System (https://plymouthsoccer.cogran.com).  There is also a “REGISTER” link under the Young Champions Summer Program, in the Young Champions section on the PSA “Home Page”.  

Q:        WHAT ARE THE REGISTRATION DATES?

A:        January 1st-March 15th

Late registrations, after March 15th, will be accepted. However, placement on a team is on an as-available basis and is not guaranteed.

Online registration will be CLOSED on Monday April 15th. After this date, contact the PSA Office to determine if there are any openings

Q:        WHAT AGE GROUP SHOULD I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR?
A:       
PSA will assign players to an age group team based on their birth date, as above. 

Q:        HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED?

A:        By gender and age group.  “Play-with” requests and school attended will be considered. 

Age groups will be combined to form teams if there are not enough players for 4 teams within each age group. 

Q:        CAN MY CHILD PLAY FOR A TEAM IN A HIGHER AGE GROUP?

A:        Individual requests will be considered.  Please contact the Program Director and he will make the final decision after discussing the player’s experience/skills with you. 

Q:        MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO PLAY WITH A FRIEND, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

A:        Yes.  One “play-with” request is allowed at online registration onlyAll registrations that have “play-with” requests must be registered by MARCH 15th-no exceptions.

 

            If the “play-with” request involves players in different age groups, the player in the lower age group MUST play in the higher age group, if approved. 

Q:        MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO PLAY FOR A SPECIFIC COACH, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

A:        We do not allow Coach “Play-with” requests. 

Q:        WHERE ARE THE PRACTICES AND GAMES CONDUCTED?

A:        At the Wayzata West Middle School fields.  Look at the “Fields Map” on the PSA website (www.plymouthsoccer.com) for location etc. 

Q:        WHAT TIMES ARE THE PRACTICES & GAMES HELD? 

A:        Either 6:00pm or 7:15pm.  They may vary between both times according to the schedule. 

Q:        IS THERE A PRACTICE/GAME SCHEDULE FOR THE TEAMS?

A:        Yes.  The PSA Office will email the schedule to each team member; once the team rosters are finalized.  The coach will also have a master schedule of games and practices. 

Q:        CAN I DROP MY CHILD OFF AT THE FIELD AND GO DO OTHER THINGS DURING   THE PRACTICE/GAME?

A:        We strongly recommend that a parent/guardian be present with their child during the time they’re at the soccer field, in case there are any problems with the child during the event. 

Q:        I’D LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO COACH, HOW DO I PROCEED?

A:        Thank you. The PSA Young Champions Program uses volunteer coaches.   Please make your intentions known on the online registration form, contact the PSA Office (763-450-3099) or the Program Director. 

Q:        HOW DO I GET A UNIFORM?
A:       
Uniforms will be distributed at the fields before the first game
           All players will receive a full uniform (Two shirts, one short and one sock).   

Q:        ARE THERE ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR THE UNIFORMS?
A:       
Yes, you are required to pay for the uniform when it is ordered at the PSA Office ($50).

Q:        WHAT SOCCER EQUIPMENT DO WE NEED?

A:        Soccer shoes (NO TOE CLEATS) are required.  

It is mandatory that all players wear shin guards, completely covered by their socks.

Each player also needs to bring their own properly inflated soccer ball to all games and practices. 

They must also have enough water/sport drink (approx. 2 quarts) to drink at all games and practices.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: 

·                     A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to

themselves or another player.

·                     If a child wears glasses, they should be secured with a head-band.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT PLAYERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR ANY JEWELRY/EARRINGS DURING THE SOCCER GAMES.

·         If a player has earrings, including newly-pierced earrings, they must remove them in order to play in the game-NO EXCEPTIONS

·         Band-Aids or tape over the earrings is not allowed.

·        This is a major liability issue and, again, there are NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Q:        WHAT SIZE SOCCER BALL SHOULD MY CHILD HAVE?
A:       
U7 & U8 age groups use a size 3 ball. 

Q:        WHAT IS THE PSA POLICY ON REGISTRATION REFUNDS?

A:        Requests for refunds must be received, in writing, at the PSA Office by March 31st.  PSA will not consider refunds requested after March 31st, unless we are unable to place your child on a team. 

Refunds, generally, will be in the form of a credit voucher for future PSA programs and will be minus $25 for administrative fees.
