Young Champions Program Details

Goals of the Young Champions Program:

  • Develop players for the Competitive (Travel) Program. Players are evaluated by the PSA Trainers and Team Coaches
  • Introduce players to more competitive Travel Program-type activities.
  • Help prepare U8 players for Travel Tryouts.
  • Provide an opportunity for future Travel Soccer players to improve their soccer technique, skills and knowledge

Teams:  Teams are formed for the U7 & U8 age groups, by gender for each of the Fall and Summer Programs. If there are not enough players to form a minimum of 4 teams per age group/gender, age groups will be combined to form teams. For the Winter Program, new teams are formed for each 6-week block of sessions.

Coaches:  The PSA Young Champions Program uses volunteer coaches. Please register during the online registration or contact the PSA Office or the Young Champions Program Director.

Young Champions Coaches are typically volunteer coaches that have coached in our Recreation and/or Travel Program.

Young Champions Coaches have obtained the MYSA Youth License, or will obtain the license, and have indicated a desire to coach in the Travel Program.

PSA Trainers conduct most sessions. See the details for each season.

Uniform:  See individual program details. Due to our impending merger with Wayzata Soccer Club, we are evaluating what uniforms will be used for the Fall 2014 Young Champions program. Winter Program participants receive a T-shirt included in the registration fee.
