Summer 2014 Recreation Program Details

PSA Summer Recreation Goals: 

  • Players should have FUN in a healthy, relaxed, stress-free program.
  • Emphasize FUN and participation. Allow our small-sided games approach to be the primary teacher
  • Develop soccer players with an age-appropriate curriculum and ensure equal playing time for all players

Summer Recreation Program Dates: Starts on Wednesday May 14th Monday May 19th and ends on Thursday July 31st

Includes: 4 practices, 16 games and 2 “skills” sessions 

Registration:   Open January 1st-April 15th

  • Teams are formed at PreK, Kindergarten, 1st-2nd grades, 3rd-4th grades, 5th-6th grades and 7th-10th grades.
  • Register your child for the grade they are currently attending. 
  • All “play-with” requests must be registered by April 15th - no exceptions.
  • Late registrations will be accepted after April 15th on a space-available basis with no guarantee of placement on a team.

Grades:  Pre-K (4+ years old) to 10th grade

Summer Recreation Fee:  $165 for Pre-K to 2nd Grade, $190 for 3rd-10th Grade. *Register by March 31st and receive a $25 discount  

Play Days: 

  • Girls play on Mondays & Wednesdays
  • Boys play on Tuesdays & Thursdays

Coaches: PSA relies totally on volunteer coaches for Recreation teams - please consider volunteering to coach your son or daughter's team! 

  • The Head Coach only will receive a refund equal to one child's discounted registration ($140 or $165), at the end of the season.
  • Training will be provided at the beginning of the program.
  • The PSA website (www.plymouthsoccer.com) has a variety of Coach Education materials to assist you in coaching the team.
  • If you are volunteering to coach, please see the Recreation Program calendar for important dates.
  • Summer Recreation Coaches are expected to attend the mandatory kick-off held in early May.

Practices: 

  • Approx. 4 practices will be scheduled throughout the season, with 2 scheduled prior to the start of summer games.
  • Practices are at either 6:00pm or 7:15pm and vary throughout the schedule.
  • No practices will be conducted July 2-6.
  • All practices will be outside. Players should dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Parents/Guardians should use their judgment on sending their children to practice.
  • PSA will update the PSA Weatherline, and notify players if the practice/game is cancelled due to weather.
  • Cancelled practices will not be re-scheduled.

Games:

  • Rec games begin mid-May and finish at the end of July.
  • Games start times are either 6:00pm or 7:25pm and vary throughout the schedule.
  • No games will be played July 2-4
  • Rosters and schedules will be made available approximately two weeks before the season begins. 
  • All games are played in inclement weather with the exception of lightning or poor field conditions.
  • Cancellations will be posted on the PSA website and the Weather Hotline. If you are uncertain, please contact your Coach.
  • Cancelled games will not be re-scheduled

Skills Training:  Two 1-hour sessions of Skills Training, conducted by PSA Trainers, are included in the Recreation Fee for all age levels. 

Uniforms: All players receive a full uniform (Shirt, shorts and socks), included in the registration fee. 

Equipment: Dress appropriately for the weather - Shorts or sweatpants may be worn.  

Soccer Balls:  All players should bring a fully-inflated soccer ball to each session. See the Recreation Program Overview for details. 

Team Pictures:  Team pictures will be scheduled in June (date, time and location TBD). Coaches will hand out team picture information, schedule and order forms with your uniform.

Refund Policy: Requests for refund must be received in writing at the PSA office by March 31st. PSA will not consider refunds requested after March 31st unless we are unable to place your child on a team. Refunds will be in the form of a credit voucher valid toward future PSA programs, less a $50 administrative fee.
