Winter Indoor Recreation Program Details

Winter Indoor Recreation Program Goals:

  • Players have fun in a safe, healthy, stress-free environment
  • Players learn in a fun, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere
  • Players develop their soccer skills with an age-appropriate curriculum and equal playing time commitment
  • Emphasize fun and participation, and allow our small-sided games approach to be the primary teacher

Winter Indoor Program Ages: Pre-K (age 3 years)-5th Grade

Three 6-week blocks:

  • Block 1: November 8-December 20, 2014
  • Block 2: January 3-February 7, 2015
  • Block 3: February 14-March 21, 2015
  • Each session consists of Technical skills training for 25-30 minutes, followed by small-sided soccer games for 25-30 minutes.

Online Registration:

  • Opens in late September and ongoing until the start of the last 6-week block of sessions or until each session is full
  • Register your child for the grade they are attending in the 2014-2015 school year
  • Pre-K registrations are based on birth dates 
  • Pre-K (4+ years old)-5th Grade according to the following “grades” schedule

Winter Indoor Recreation Program Registration Fee: (We strongly recommend registering for ALL THREE 6-week Blocks in advance).

Play Day:  TENTATIVE: Saturdays between 12:00pm-5:00pm at the Plymouth Creek Center Dome Turf field. Sessions are scheduled according to grade attending for the 2014-2015 school year. See schedule below.

Teams:

  • For Pre-K (age 4+ yrs), Kindergarten, 1st-2nd and 3rd-5th grades, teams are formed for each 6-week Block of sessions
  • Teams are formed by gender, grade, play-with requests and school attended.
  • If a play-with request involves players in different grades, the lower grade player must play at the higher grade time.
  • Play-with requests must be received prior to the Team Formation meeting, which usually takes place one week prior to the start of each 6-week block of sessions

Team Coaches:

  • PSA relies totally on volunteer coaches to coach the Winter Indoor Recreation Program teams.
  • Coaching is minimal; it consists of implementing the lesson plan for the “skills” portion of the session and supervising the players during the “game” portion of the session
  • PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO COACH A TEAM. WE ALWAYS NEED COACHES!

PSA Trainers:

  • Coordinate and lead the “skills” portion of each weekly session (approx. 30 minutes)
  • Provide the team Coaches with age-appropriate lesson plans for each weekly session
  • Observe “skills” activities and “games” and provide coach and  player feedback
  • Coach teams whenever the Team Coaches are not available

Uniform:

  • Team T-shirt is included in the program fee, and should be worn for all sessions attended.
  • A new Team T-shirt is distributed to each player at check-in for the start of each 6-week block of sessions.

Game Schedule: The PSA Trainers have the weekly schedule. Each team will play against the other PSA teams within their grade(s) and gender. 
 
Q: Can I drop my child off at the dome and go do other things during the hour? 
A: We strongly recommend that a parent/guardian be present with the child during the time they’re at the Dome. This is very beneficial in case there are any problems with the child during the session. 

Equipment/Apparel: Please adhere to the equipment/safety rules under Recreation Program Overview. 

Soccer Balls:  All players should bring a fully-inflated ball to each session. See the details under Recreation Program Overview. 

Winter Indoor Recreation Refund Policy:  For the WINTER Recreation Program, NO refunds are allowed. PSA may choose to award a Credit Voucher toward future PSA programs. Please contact the PSA Office (763-450-3099) if you have a special request to withdraw. Each situation will be reviewed individually by PSA.

SEPTEMBER (2014) 
Sunday 22 - Registration starts for all (3) 6-week blocks of sessions. 
 
NOVEMBER (2014) 
Saturday 8th - Block 1 STARTS. Players get their T-shirts; please check-in 15-20 minutes prior to the start of your session. 
Saturday 29th - No activities due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. 
Online registration for the 2nd and 3rd 6-week block of sessions continues throughout the month. 
 
DECEMBER (2014) 
Saturday 20th - LAST DAY of Block 1. 
Saturday 27th - No activities due to the Holidays. 
Online registration for Blocks 2 & 3 continues throughout the month. 
 
JANUARY (2015) 
Saturday 3rd - Block 2 STARTS. Players get their T-shirts; please check-in 15-20 minutes prior to the start of your session. 
Online registration for Block 3 continues throughout the month. 
 
FEBRUARY (2015) 
Saturday 7th - LAST DAY of Block 2. 
Saturday 14th - Block 3 STARTS. Players get their T-shirts; please check-in 15-20 minutes prior to the start of your session.

 
MARCH (2015) 
Saturday 21st - LAST DAY of Block 3. The Winter Recreation Program ENDS.
