Frequently Asked Questions regarding Tryouts

Is it possible to play Fall Season only?
No. If you play Fall, you must also play in the Spring/Summer season.

Is it possible to play Spring/Summer Season only?
Yes, at some levels. We encourage players to participate in both Fall and Spring/Summer seasons, but Fall is not required. Players on top U11-U14 teams are expected to play both Fall and Spring/Summer.

What is the policy on play-ups?
Players wishing to play up a level must indicate this desire on the registration. Players are encouraged to attend tryouts at their correct age level, when possible, plus the level at which they would like to play.

Will everyone that tries out make a team?
While every effort is made to place each player on a Competitive team, MYSA roster size restrictions and the number of players trying out at an age group may prevent placement of every player. All players must be evaluated for placement on a team.

What if I have to miss tryouts due to injury/illness/family vacation?
We recognize that there will be instances when a player is unable to attend tryouts as scheduled. To be included in the process and be placed on a Competitive team, all players that will miss one or both sessions for their age group are required to:

  1. Register for Tryouts. Check the box noting that the player will be missing one/both sessions, note any details regarding the reason for the absence (medical condition, family emergency, etc.) and pay the non-refundable registration fee.
  2. If a player has a situation that simply does not allow them to be evaluated, efforts will be made to place the player appropriately based upon coach or club-provided player evaluations
  3. The best opportunity for an accurate player evaluation is for players to attend all sessions for their age group.
  4. Preference will be given to players that attend tryouts/evaluations.
  5. Because the team nature of these sessions, no makeup sessions are offered and players must attend their own age group.
